The Crossroads has continued to gain popularity in music ("Highway 61," "Crossroads," "Cross Road Blues," "Highway 49," etc) and in movies ("O Brother, Where Art Thou?," "Crossroads," etc.).

  7. If you know the Robert Johnson legend, the stop means something. If you don’t, there’s nothing to tell you about it. The marker is about Clarksdale but nothing about The Crossroads. I was explaining the significance to my sisters who were clueless. We did Google the legend which helped. And we later went to the Delta Blues Museum/5().

  8. May 08,  · Even the song "Cross Road Blues," which casual listeners might think is a retelling of Robert's fateful midnight meeting with the devil, means something much different to Steven. "I went to the crossroad, fell down on my knees," sings Johnson in his eerie and cool voice. "Asked the Lord above, 'Have mercy, now save poor Bob, if you please.'"Author: Dave Roos.
